We kicked off our day with a scenic drive to Jemez Springs. Our first stop? Aspen Ridge Alpaca Farm, where Mickey, the farm’s owner, greeted us. Mickey showed us around the barn and introduced us to the award-winning alpacas, who were ready for their close-up!
Mickey’s farm isn’t just a pretty place to say “I do” but also offers a hands-on experience with the alpacas. You and your partner can feed the alpacas—an added touch of fun that makes your day even more memorable.
Location: A Quiet Village Town in Jemez Springs
Vibe: Vintage Western
Things to Do: Hot Springs and Spas, hang out with the alpaca’s, hiking, and camping
Our styled shoot embraced a Vintage Western theme, blending classic elegance with a touch of the wild West. The couple, high school sweethearts recently engaged, radiated romance and fun. Lexi had just moved from Kentucky to New Mexico to be with Tom, adding an extra layer of sweetness to their story.
We chose to capture their special moments in a mix of classic and natural poses. The barn doors provided a rustic backdrop, while the golden hour sunset outside painted everything with a magical glow. Even though the day was mostly overcast, the sun peeked out just in time for those dreamy golden hour shots!
Here’s how to ensure your New Mexico elopement is as unique and enjoyable as possible:
1. Personal Touches: Incorporate elements that reflect your personalities. For this shoot, the alpacas added a fun and distinctive twist.
2. Styled Settings: Work with vendors who can bring your vision to life. For this elopement, Lauren from Luna Designs set up a stunning dinner table, while Christy from Thursday Floral Co. provided beautiful floral arrangements. Christina from The Dressing Room West added the perfect dress to complete the look.
3. Stay Close, but Keep It Cozy: Aspen Ridge offers a few charming Airbnbs in town. The town is small, so keeping noise levels down is a courteous way to respect the local vibe. This setting would be perfect for a more intimate elopement experience.
4. Have Fun!: Most importantly, have fun! Create an elopement day that is special to you and your partner. This day is about celebrating your love and you deserve to be present, and enjoy every moment of it!
Are you kidding me?!?! How perfect is this intimate picnic? I think this moment was one of my favorites from this elopement day!
